When the Volume Doubles

by Antoine Rizk, VP, B2B Program, Product and Solutions Marketing, Axway

Why are volumes of data rapidly increasing?

They’re increasing because lately there has been wider adoption from small to mid-sized companies. The traffic volume is set to triple from 2008 to 2013. What’s more, with internet protocols like OFTP2, AS2, and AS3 becoming more and more secure, capable of catering to large files and restarting after connection breakdowns and failures, more and more small companies are able to connect to their partners without having to pay expensive VANs to do it.

These secure internet protocols not only allow smaller companies to connect, they allow remote regions of the world to connect, which means that the space for traffic is opening to third-world countries. The fall in the country barriers, especially in Europe, for example, is driving small and mid-sized companies to do cross-border work and trade, and this requires B2B connectivity.

All of this—all these small and mid-sized companies arriving and getting more and more connected to B2B—is creating important traffic. Our customers now come to us and say, “The last thing I want to do—in three years’ time, when the traffic volume is going to triple, when I double the number of partners who are enabled—is replace my B2B hub or gateway.”

That’s where we come into play. With Axway’s B2Bi solution, you have tools which have been proven scalable. We can claim, without any doubt, that it is the most scalable B2B tool on the market today for the simple reason that it is at the heart of a leading logistics company’s hub. And this company, in the view of leading analyst firms, is the biggest B2B hub today. The volumes that this company manages are, alone, an important percentage of the entire B2B traffic in the world. And this is powered by Axway’s B2Bi solution.
